pxx258. Allergy to sulfamides? Septicemia? Probably both! The patient was admitted to our ward after having received treatment for toxo with sulfadiazin+daraprim in hospital. Severe haemorrhage, purpura, confusion, high temperature, bad odor of the whole body... The purpura was so severe that some petechias had volume!(see upper and next photos) On several places of his body one could observe what looked like vascular hernias ("pockets of dirthy blood" on his lips and on the border of former infected herpes wounds). One can suppose that other internal organs were also affected because he also had maelena and multifocal neuro signs.
Without sulfa and with the ampiciline + gentamycine, the hemorrhagic problem stopped (no more maelena nor petechias nor confusion...). One week after admission,, the patient died due to a deteriorating general condition. See other photos of carrousel and "6-Allergy" and 16-hemoragy .
