"ALCOHOL".
1. TYPE OF PREVENTION MATERIAL.
- Poster.
- 100% vector drawing (compatible with very big enlargement like public advertising
or reduction for magazine, tract or leaflet without loss of graphic quality).
- Colors.
2. OBJECTIVES OF "ALCOHOL" POSTER.
The leading objective is to denounce that
alcohol is a facilitating factor in the HIV sexual contamination. Alcohol
is decreasing apprehension, shyness, lucidity and moral concerns. Under the
effects of alcohol, it is more common to misuse the condom or to not use condom.
To deliver the following "2nd line
messages":
- Condom is not easy to wear correctly. Alcohol make the process even more
difficult.
- Not to use condom is another tendency when under the effects of alcohol.
To remember the following "1st line messages":
- The use of condom is a prevention tool
against HIV sexual contamination.
- AIDS is still a killing disease.
- This poster can easily be adapted for
all cultures, including western cultures. But the design of the bottle here
clearly evoke alcohol for the Thais ("Mekong" bottle, the most famous,
popular and cheap Thai whisky)
- However, the poster is not adequate for people who do not know the basic
information about AIDS and the use of condom as the main prevention for HIV
sexual transmission.
- The content is totally compatible with the requirements of the "tribal",
"agrarian", "industrial" and "post industrial"
groups of the Thai society.
- The material is not adapted (but surely not contra-indicated) for primary
schools.
- For secondary schools, the question is quite sensitive as, in Thailand,
students at this level of education are considered as a HIV high risk group.
Young people of this age have the tendency fight shyness with alcohol when
they enter in sexual life
- It would be very suitable to be able to display such poster in establishments
where alcohol drinks are on sale or even in alcohol sale shops.
