This web site is dedicated for searchers in the field of prevention of sexual HIV transmission. (Basic scientific knowledge's connected with HIV are suppose to be know by our visitors)
New generation of prevention techniques like "HIV prevention pill/injection" (which will allow to skip the use of condom without danger), "HIV preventive foam" (to spray in vaginal or rectal cavity before penetration) or "HIV preventive vaccination" (...) are NOT subjects of our pages. This new technologies are still medical experimentations. We prefer to stay in grass rooted problems induce by generalized techniques of prevention.
Millions of dollars are spend each months for conferences, meeting, databases, rapports, audit, funds rising , workshops, brainstorming, etc. But new campaigns are like former campaigns, touching always same topics, with same style of prevention material. It seems that in the sphere of prevention they still do not know WHY informed men still OFTEN refuse to wear condom when condom are available.
The main problem in HIV prevention is possibly not on the field but in dedicated offices deprive of grass rooted experience which should make them understand the basic psychological characteristics of "normal man". When I decided to stop to work in the AIDS hospice of Lopburi and wanted to involve myself in AIDS prevention (in February 2005) I was simply shocked to observe that links between alcohol and AIDS or links between impotency and condoms were never really assume by HIV prevention... How can we explain that links between shyness and HIV is so underestimated in campaigns and that there is nearly no specific messages for faithful wives... How can we explain that even in countries like Belgium or Thailand the mains messages of prevention are still the same than in countries where they start prevention (mainly 'Safer Sex' rules, abstinence & danger of stigmas?)...
In fact I am not a 'public health doctor', I even don't speak correct English... Knowing that "www.aids-hospice.com" has a rich audience everywhere in the world (8 700 000 hits in 2006 with big majority of health workers) I felt as a duties to denounce and to propose here also and not only in my new professional frame.
