pxx277. Severe penicilliosis after a ampho treatment (6doses). The patient was treated with itraconazole for 5 months before being admit in our ward. Our experience tells us that such a patient needs amphotericin. We refered him to another hospital which gave ampho... (Note that penicilliosis, after starting treatment; can give papule like a skin crypto!)

If ampho is not available the only thing we can do is to give fluconazole(less active again penicillium) or fluconazole+ itraconazole... Usually there is no cross resistance between the 2 drugs.
