Cloxacillin per os

Main indication,

- skin bacterial infection (yellow pus...)

- Skin bacterial secondary infection (on scabies, psoriasis, zoster...)

- Abscess, enlarged lymph node

- osteomyelitis, cellulitis....

Dose

- 500 mg x 4

- should be taken on an empty stomach, preferably 1 hour before meals.

- maximum adult dose = 6 gr a day.

- Patients with impaired renal function do not generally require a reduction in dose

Possible side/adverse effect

- Exfoliative dermatitis (red, scaly skin); serum sickness-like reactions (skin rash; joint pain; fever); skin rash, hives, or itching
Incidence rare. Cross allergy with other drugs of same family: pen, amoxy, cloxa...

- Store below 40 °C (104 °F), preferably between 15 and 30 °C
